Russ' Restaurant Information

Tucked along S Beacon Blvd in Grand Haven, Russ' Restaurant has the kind of easygoing, familiar vibe that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. It’s the sort of place locals mention when you ask where to grab a dependable meal, and after spending some time here, it’s clear why it’s stayed a staple in the area.

Walking in, the atmosphere leans classic American diner-comfortable booths, warm lighting, and a steady hum of conversation that never feels overwhelming. It’s not trying to be trendy, and that’s part of its charm. The location is convenient, especially if you’re heading toward the lakeshore, making it an easy stop whether you’re a local or just passing through Grand Haven.

The menu is broad without feeling chaotic, covering everything from hearty breakfasts to classic lunch and dinner plates. Their breakfast offerings stand out, with fluffy pancakes, eggs cooked just right, and hash browns that hit that perfect balance of crispy and tender. On a recent visit, the omelet was generously filled and came out hot, paired with toast that didn’t feel like an afterthought. For lunch, the sandwiches and burgers feel like the kind of comfort food you actually crave-nothing overly complicated, just done well. The fried chicken is another highlight, with a golden crust that has a satisfying crunch without being greasy.

Service here is consistently friendly and attentive without hovering. It’s the kind of place where servers check in just enough to make sure you’re taken care of, and they seem genuinely familiar with the menu, offering helpful suggestions when asked. That kind of service adds to the overall experience and explains why many of the reviews you’ll hear or read lean positive.

What stands out most is the consistency. Restaurants like Russ’ Restaurant don’t rely on gimmicks; they build their reputation on delivering reliable food and a welcoming environment day after day. While it may not be the place for cutting-edge cuisine, it excels at what it sets out to do-serving comforting, satisfying meals in a relaxed setting that feels rooted in the community.

What People's Say About Place

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. Don’t come if you are in a hurry or trying to stay healthy lol. Food is greasy in the best way and is like a fine art, it takes forever so great place to go when you want long conversations and time with friends or family. Cheese broccoli soup is our go to take out for sickness too!

I loved Russ’ Restaurant! The family-friendly atmosphere is chill and relaxed, which made for a really enjoyable visit. Our server was speedy and super friendly. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. I personally got the chopped steak, which was very good. One person in our group got the soup and salad combo and really liked it. Another got the kids’ chicken tenders meal and was happy with it. Lastly, someone got the hot hamburger sandwich and thought it was great. The only thing worth noting is that the Strawberry Shortcake is made with pound cake instead of biscuits. I personally prefer the biscuit-style version, but other than that, everything was amazing. Highly recommend!

Can't go wrong with Russ' they have been around for over 80 years and there's a reason why. Still decent value for your money and some good traditional dishes. We had dinner this time and I really like the turkey Ruben sandwich. We also really like their what appears to be homemade onion rings. If you go before 7pm they also have a nice salad bar with soups and you also get a baked potato. I wish they offered a way to add the salad bar to a meal but you can only get it stand alone. The Grand haven location did a great job with fast fresh and friendly service (this visit by Nicole who was very nice and working hard - which you don't see everywhere these days . We will be back.

Nice enough. Family friendly. More traditional foods like meatloaf, chicken strips, salads, soups, chicken, potatoes, hamburgers, sandwiches and more. Three adults ate for $50 not including the tip. I’ll go again.

We had gone to Russ' for a grandfather in-laws 95th birthday. Our waitress Ailea was so nice and amazing! She had cleaned up a few messes with no issues and the service was great. The food didn't take long to get out to our table considering there was a bit to bring out. The food tasted great and the menu price was reasonable. I really like this place and would go again.

Looking for tasty simple food, served by staff who are always friendly and efficient and at reasonable prices? This is your place! We,be always had a great meal there, and enjoy the atmosphere. We even took a couple of younger 30-something’s there and they loved it.

Absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant my daughter had a field trip close by so I brought my 4-year-old son here for lunch while she enjoyed her field trip and he had an absolute blast the food was amazing by far the best burger I've ever had in my life and he absolutely loved the mac and cheese and chocolate milk after my daughter got done with her field trip she was hungry so we brought her here where she had what she describes as the best turkey club even better than the ones I make at home my son and I had dessert the coconut cream pie was absolutely amazing and my son thoroughly enjoyed his hot fudge chocolate cake my daughter said that the chocolate milkshake was to die for oh and last and certainly not least the homemade onion rings we're absolutely perfect we could not finish them all and brought them home I reheated them in my air fryer and they were just as delicious especially with the fantastic ranch .....we might live 2 hours away but I will definitely be planning a vacation close by so I can bring the rest of the family to this amazing restaurant

Ailea waited on us 3, and she goes that extra mile to assure the patrons are satisfied. She's very patient, attentive to our hunger, and accurate.
